Conference on “The Socio-cultural Issues in the Arab World: Tradition and Modernity”

On 28 September 2012, the Consulate General of the State of Kuwait in Ho Chi Minh City cooperated with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Ho Chi Minh City to organize a conference on “The Socio-cultural Issues in the Arab World: Tradition and Modernity”. The conference is aimed at giving social science experts, lecturers and students an opportunity to share ideas and conduct further research on Arab culture and thus learn from experiences on the relations between Vietnam and the Arab world.   

The Deputy Rector of the University Truong Thi Kim Chuyen said: “The result of this conference will be a good reference resource for both teachers and students in order to set up academic cooperation relations as well as provide Vietnamese enterprises with useful information to diversify their investment and cooperation in Arab countries.”  

HE Omar Al-Qenaei, Consul General of Kuwait in Ho Chi Minh City highly appreciated Vietnam’s efforts in developing its relations with the Arab world. There have so far been two universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City offering Arabic courses. The Consul General expressed his hope that there will be more people to take Arabic studies as well as conduct further research on Arab culture in the future.
