The Anniversary of the 55th Independence Day and the 25th Liberation Day of the State of Kuwait in Ho Chi Minh City

 On February 25, 2016, the Consulate General of the State of Kuwait in Ho Chi Minh City organized a Reception at Park Hyatt Saigon Hotel to celebrate the 55th Independence Day and the 25th Liberation Day of the State of Kuwait.

Mr. Le Thanh Liem, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City was the chief guest at the Reception. The event was also attended by other distinguished guests including leaders and representatives from provinces in the south of Vietnam, diplomats from the Consular Corps, representatives from academic institutions, media, Kuwaiti expatriates, etc.

In his speech, H.E. Mr. Omar Al-Qenaei, Consul General expressed his appreciation and sincere gratitude to leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and its relevant authorities, as well as leaders of the southern provinces of Vietnam for their unstinting support to the Consulate General of the State of Kuwait. The Consul General said: “The diplomatic relations between the State of Kuwait and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam were established in 1976, and have been increasingly strengthened over time” and “There will be a myriad of activities to be carried out in 2016 to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Kuwait.” He also believed that trade and investment cooperation will help to bring the two countries and people closer.

Mr. Le Thanh Liem, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City congratulated the Consul General and the Consulate General of the State of Kuwait for their achievements in the past nine years and emphasized that “the City Authority will facilitate the Consulate General to organize activities in celebration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations, bringing the images of the country and people of Kuwait closer to the residents in town.”

The Vice Chairman also expected that investments from Kuwait as well as projects funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) will be increased in Ho Chi Minh City in the coming years. He hoped that “the Consulate General of Kuwait will continue to play a key role in connecting and fostering cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Al-Ahmadi – a sister province of Ho Chi Minh City.”

The Consul General and the Vice Chairman joined in cutting the cake to celebrate the National Day of the State of Kuwait as well as the flourishing relationship between the State of Kuwait and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
